What embroidery is and why it is the most durable choice for corporate logos

Embroidery means stitching a company logo or text onto the surface of a textile with multi-colored threads on an industrial embroidery machine. Where printing sits on top of the fabric, embroidery passes through it, which makes it significantly more durable against washing, abrasion and outdoor use. Professional machine embroidery keeps a logo sharp through hundreds of wash cycles and is therefore the default choice for corporate workwear, business apparel and caps.

Brandix’s own embroidery workshop in Espoo runs multi-head industrial machines that reproduce the same logo identically from one run to the next. This is the key difference between craft and industrial embroidery: when a reorder comes in months later, the logo looks exactly the same as in the first batch — same digitized file, same thread colors, same tension.

We also run printing (screen printing, DTF, DTG) in the same building, which means we can pick the right technique for your product — embroidery for durable corporate logos, screen printing for large event runs, DTF for small batches and multi-color logos. Read more on our printing services page.

Our embroidery workshop serves clients across Finland. We deliver regularly to Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Lahti and Kuopio — and on request anywhere else in Finland. The minimum order is 10 pieces; our largest accounts cover tens of thousands of units per year.

Who this service is for

Workwear

Workwear embroidery

Company logos on work jackets, softshells, fleeces and aprons. Embroidery withstands industrial washing at 60–95 °C and stays crisp even when printing would start to break down.

  1. Corporate

    Corporate wear embroidery

Chest logos on polo shirts, softshells and jackets — a premium finish for events, trade shows and client meetings. Fine-thread embroidery works even for small logos.

  2. Caps and beanies

Cap embroidery and 3D puff embroidery

Classic flat embroidery or 3D puff embroidery on caps. 3D gives a sporty look; flat embroidery works better for small details.

  3. Events

    Event textiles

Summer parties, wellbeing days, trade show teams. We can also deliver urgent rush batches when the digitized file already exists.

  4. Personalization

    Name embroidery and player numbers

Personal name tags on work shirts and player numbers for sports teams. We also handle one-off personalization as part of a larger order.

  5. Towels and linen

    Hotel and spa textiles

Terry towels, bathrobes and linens — logo or room number embroidered. Embroidery thread holds up to industrial laundry cycles.

How it works

  1. Quote request and logo review

Tell us the product, quantity and target delivery date. Send the logo preferably as a vector (AI, EPS, PDF) or a high-resolution PNG. We review together whether the logo works at the desired size — thin lines and overly small text do not always reproduce precisely in embroidery.

  2. Logo digitizing

We convert the logo into a file the embroidery machine can read (DST / EMB). The digitizer defines stitch direction, thread tension, underlay stitching and color numbers. Good digitizing is 70% of the result — this step is what separates professional embroidery from hobbyist work.

  3. Thread color matching and sample embroidery

We match the logo colors to Madeira Classic or Polyneon threads (PMS and RGB equivalents). We produce a sample embroidery on the actual material when it is a new logo or a precise brand color. When needed, we mail a physical sample before production.

  4. Production run

Multi-head embroidery machines run the order in one or several passes. Quality is inspected piece by piece — thread tails are trimmed, backing is removed and finishing is done by hand. Typical lead time is 1–3 weeks from digitizing completion.

  5. Delivery and reorders

Delivery either via Brandix or directly to the end customer — for example, a B2B webshop order is picked and embroidered to the required quantity. The digitized file is archived, so the next order kicks off in a few hours.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between embroidery and hand needlework?

In everyday language both refer to stitching on a textile surface, but in practice the words often mean different things. Embroidery here means industrial machine stitching on multi-head embroidery machines — exactly what Brandix does for corporate logos, workwear and caps. Hand needlework is more often associated with crafts, hobby or traditional household stitching. Brandix’s embroidery workshop in Espoo is professional production: industrial machines, stitch-precise digitizing and identically repeatable runs.

When should I choose embroidery and when printing?

Embroidery is the best choice for durable corporate logos on workwear and corporate apparel: an embroidered logo withstands hundreds of washes, looks premium and works best on caps, softshells, fleeces and heavier fabrics. Screen printing suits large event shirt runs where a single design is needed in 50+ pieces at once. DTF printing is best for small batches, multi-color or photographic logos and on products where embroidery is not suitable (e.g. very thin shirts). Brandix offers all three under one roof, so we can recommend the right technique for your use case.

How small can a logo be for embroidery?

The recommended minimum size for sharp detail is about 15 × 15 mm, but with fine-thread embroidery we can go down to 10–12 mm logos when needed. Very thin lines (under 0.3 mm) will not embroider cleanly — in that case we recommend adjusting the logo or choosing an alternative technique such as DTF printing.

What is the minimum order quantity for embroidery?

Our MOQ is 10 pieces with the same logo. Smaller quantities can be accommodated case-by-case, but the one-off digitizing cost amortizes better on larger runs.

How much does embroidery cost?

The price is driven by the stitch count of the logo (how many stitches the machine has to run), the order quantity and the product itself. Rough range: a chest-logo embroidery on 50 shirts typically lands at €3–6 per piece including digitizing. One-off digitizing is typically €30–60. An exact quote is always calculated case-by-case.

How should I send the logo?

The best file format is vector graphics (AI, EPS or PDF). If only PNG or JPG is available, an image of at least 1000 × 1000 pixels is usually enough as a basis for digitizing. Professional PDF vectorization is also available if no vector logo exists.

How long does delivery take?

Typical lead time is 1–3 weeks from order approval. The first embroidery usually takes longer (digitizing and sample included); reorders often ship in 5–7 business days. Rush projects can be arranged case-by-case.

Can you embroider on garments we already own?

Yes, our workshop also handles customer-owned goods. Please note that liability for any textile damage is limited — we cannot guarantee how unknown materials behave on an embroidery machine. We recommend sending one test piece before a larger run.

Does the embroidery go through the fabric / is it visible on the inside?

Embroidery always passes through the fabric — it is the nature of the technique. On the reverse you will see underlay stitching and thread tails. For some delicate products (like thin shirts) we apply backing on the inside and a cover patch to make skin contact more comfortable. This is routine for premium products.
